In June 2019 Gillian entered the Venture Entrepreneur Competition with University of Chester. After giving a presentation in front of a panel of ten judges she was awarded second place. Prizes included social media and marketing consultancy along with a business grant to start up Tailored Yarn.

The positive feedback from the judges and other competitors was what really gave Gillian the confidence to embark on making her vision to support families with cancer through writing and illustrating bespoke books into a reality.

Gillian Seale spoke about her community focussed business, writing and illustrating personalised children’s stories to preserve memories for families battling with terminal illness, in the form of a unique fictional literature legacy. She also revealed some creative insight into her debut children’s novel ”Postpixie Missing in Action”, inspired by a friend with muscular dystrophy. She’s currently working on her second book ”Mummy’s Amazing Rainbow Mind”, which may be the first ever children’s book on the topic of a rare childbirth related illness.
